FREE TRADING CALCULATORS

Essential Risk Management Tools for Every Trader

Consistent trading begins with knowing what you could lose before thinking about what you might gain. These free trading calculators help you define risk, calculate a suitable position size and understand the effect that losses can have on your account.
Calculate how many shares, coins or units you can trade based on your account balance, risk percentage, entry price and stop-loss level. Futures mode also estimates exposure and required margin without treating leverage as additional safe risk.

Trade Planner

Turn a trade idea into a structured plan before placing the order. Enter your direction, entry, stop loss, target and account risk to estimate position quantity, potential loss, potential profit and risk-to-reward ratio. This is a must use tool for every trader.

Drawdown Calculator

Measure the decline from a previous account peak and see the percentage gain required to recover. The calculator shows why controlling losses becomes increasingly important as drawdown grows. This tool is designed to track your drawdown wisely.

Practical Tools for Disciplined Trading

Calculations are only one part of risk management. A repeatable checklist can improve pre-trade discipline, while a structured journal can reveal patterns that are difficult to notice when trades are reviewed from memory alone.
Pause before placing the order and confirm that the setup, stop loss, position size, execution plan and mental state meet your trading rules. The checklist is interactive but does not save information in your browser.

Trading Journal

Download a structured Excel trading journal with a trade log, automatic performance calculations, R-multiple tracking, running balance, drawdown monitoring and review prompts.

– Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What trading tools should a beginner use first?

Start with the Trade Planner to define the entry, stop loss, target and maximum account risk. Then use the Position Size Calculator to confirm quantity. Complete the Pre-Trade Checklist before entering and record the completed trade in your Trading Journal.

How does the Position Size Calculator work?

It converts your chosen risk percentage into a monetary risk amount and divides that amount by the price difference between entry and stop loss. The result is an estimated risk-based quantity.

Does leverage increase my safe position size?

No. Leverage reduces the margin needed to control a position, but it does not reduce price risk between entry and stop loss. Higher leverage can also increase liquidation and execution risk.

What is the difference between the Trade Planner and Position Size Calculator?

The Position Size Calculator focuses on risk-based quantity, exposure and estimated margin. The Trade Planner combines quantity with a target price to show potential profit, potential loss and risk-to-reward ratio.

Why is the required recovery larger than the drawdown?

Losses and gains are calculated from different starting values. After a 20% drawdown, the smaller remaining balance must gain 25% to return to the previous peak. A 50% drawdown requires a 100% recovery.

Can I use these calculators for stocks, cryptocurrency and futures?

Yes. The main risk-management principles apply across these markets. However, contract multipliers, lot sizes, fees, funding, margin requirements and liquidation rules can differ between platforms.

Do the calculators save my trading information?

No. Calculator inputs are processed for the current session and are not saved as a trading history. Use the downloadable Trading Journal if you want to maintain a long-term record.

Why use a downloadable Excel trading journal instead of browser storage?

A downloaded workbook remains under your control and is not removed when browser data is cleared. You can save backups and choose where the journal is stored.

Are these trading tools financial advice?

No. The tools provide educational calculations based on your inputs. They do not recommend a security, market direction, entry price or trading strategy.
